Deductible Limits Removed for Small Employer Plans

April 16, 2014

On April 1, 2014, new legislation was signed into law that eliminates the maximum $2,000 deductible limit for gold, silver, and platinum plans in the small group market. The legislation was advocated by consumer groups to allow for more flexible plan design, and is effective retroactively to 2010. The maximum out-of-pocket limits for non-grandfathered small and large group plans remain in effect.
