IRS Says HDHPs May Waive COVID-19 Cost-SharingMarch 12, 2020
Most major insurance carriers have announced that any plan co-pays or other cost-sharing for COVID-19 testing will be waived. If your health plan includes telemedicine, cost-sharing may also be waived.
The IRS issued Notice 2020-15 stating that waiving cost-sharing for COVID-19 testing and treatment will not disqualify High Deductible Health Plans.
Note that the CMS announced that Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D plans may now allow more flexibility in plan requirements, including waiving co-pays and relaxing other barriers to care.
