IRS Restores 2018 Family HSA Contribution Limit

April 26, 2018

The IRS just issued Revenue Procedure 2018-27, which restores the 2018 family HSA contribution limit back to the originally announced limit of $6,900.

In March 2018, the IRS had announced that changes in the tax code necessitated a reduction in the family level HSA contribution limit from $6,900 to $6,850. After a review of the applicable laws and procedures, the IRS and Treasury determined that the reduction was not necessary and potentially created an undue burden on taxpayers and HSA managers.

HSA providers may need time to adjust their systems to reflect this change. Please reach out to your Keller account team to discuss the process for updating employee communication materials.
