For employers with employees who work in Rhode Island, the Temporary Caregiver Insurance (TCI) Program became effective on January 5, 2014. TCI provides up to 4 weeks of income to an employee who takes leave from work to care for a seriously ill child, spouse, domestic partner, parent, parent-in-law, or grandparent, or to bond with a newborn child, new adopted child, or new foster-care child. The RI Department of Labor and Training administers TCI alongside the Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI) Program. Both programs are funded entirely by employee payroll deductions. The benefit payments are also the same for both programs. For information about eligibility, benefit amounts, and other program details, visit the TDI/TCI website or contact your Keller account team if you have questions.
